Drywall scraps add up fast on a new construction project—and getting them out of a multistory building is a job of its own.
For a new construction contractor working in North Philadelphia’s 19140 area near Temple University, the 1-800-Haul-Out crew took on approximately 10,000 pounds of drywall scraps spread across the basement and the first, second, and third floors.
Oscar, Ron, and Carlos completed the removal in approximately four hours, loading two truckloads of material.

Four levels of drywall scraps, one hardworking crew
This was more than a pile waiting beside the curb. The material had to be gathered and moved out from four levels of the building, including the basement.
The drywall offcuts included large sections, narrow strips, and smaller broken pieces piled inside the unfinished rooms. Across multiple floors, that material represented roughly five tons of debris to load and haul away.
Putting the “elevator” to work
Every building has its own access challenges. On this job, some window access helped the crew save a considerable amount of time getting debris out.
We jokingly called it the “elevator”—although this particular elevator was a window. Alongside the work of gathering and loading material from the different floors, that access helped Oscar, Ron, and Carlos keep the removal moving.
Construction debris removal for Philadelphia contractors
A construction project can leave a contractor with a substantial cleanup task before the next stage of work. This pickup shows the scale of a single drywall removal: approximately 10,000 pounds, four building levels, two truckloads, and about four hours of crew work.
Thank you to the contractor for trusting Haul-Out with the job—and to Oscar, Ron, and Carlos for putting in the work.
